How the eyebrow shape detector works

Detection uses Google's MediaPipe Face Landmarker, running on your device.

  1. 1

    Upload a selfie

Use a clear, front-facing photo or your camera. Face the lens straight on in even light.

  2. 2

    Landmarks are measured

Arch height, peak position, tail direction and thickness are measured on both brows.

Types of eyebrow shapes

Six common eyebrow shapes the detector can identify.

  • Straight

A flat, horizontal brow with little or no arch. It reads youthful and calm and can make a face look shorter.

  • Soft Arched

A gentle, low arch that peaks about two-thirds along the brow. The most common and most adaptable shape.

  • High Arched

A pronounced, angled arch that lifts the eye and adds drama. It balances round and square faces.

  • Rounded

A curved brow that arcs smoothly with no sharp peak. It softens angular features.

  • Upward

The tail sits higher than the head of the brow, giving an energetic, lifted look.

  • Downward / Falling

The tail drops below the head of the brow, which can make eyes look tired or soft.

Shaping brows after the eyebrow shape detector

Map your ideal brow with a pencil held against your face. The brow should start above the inner corner of your eye, peak above the outer edge of your iris when you look straight ahead, and end on a line from the side of your nose past the outer corner of your eye.

Grow before you shape. Leave brows alone for four to six weeks so you can see their natural line, then remove only the hairs clearly outside it. Over-plucked hairs can take months to return, and some never do.

Fill sparse areas with light, hair-like strokes in a shade one step lighter than your hair if you're dark-haired, or one step darker if you're blonde. Set everything with a clear or tinted gel brushed upward.

Eyebrow shape detector FAQ

Is it really free?

Yes. No sign-up, no watermark and no usage limits. The analysis runs in your browser.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Detection runs locally with Google's MediaPipe model, so your photo never leaves your device.

What photo works best?

A straight-on photo at eye level, from arm's length or further, in soft daylight. Pull hair off your face, remove glasses and keep a neutral expression.

Should my eyebrows match my face shape?

A brow shape that contrasts your face shape tends to balance it — angled arches for round faces, softer curves for square ones. The detector shows the best match for yours.

Should both brows be identical?

No — brows are sisters, not twins. Aim for similar height and length rather than a perfect copy.

Does the result change if my brows are tinted or filled in?

Yes. For your natural shape, use a photo with bare brows.
