How the eye distance calculator works
Detection uses Google's MediaPipe Face Landmarker, running on your device.
- 1
Upload a selfie
Use a clear, front-facing photo or your camera. Face the lens straight on in even light.
- 2
Landmarks are measured
The inner-corner gap, eye width and pupil distance are measured and compared to face width.

The ideal eye spacing ratio
In the rule of fifths, a face is five eye-widths wide and the gap between the eyes is one eye width — an eye spacing ratio of 1.0. Above 1.1 reads wide-set; below 0.9 reads close-set.
Neither is better. Eye spacing simply changes which makeup placement and frame bridges look most balanced.
Eye distance calculator results for makeup and frames
The rule of fifths divides a face into five equal vertical sections, each the width of one eye. When the gap between the inner corners equals one eye width, eyes read as balanced. The calculator reports that ratio directly, so you don't need a ruler or millimeters.
Makeup can nudge the look either way. To bring wide-set eyes closer, darken the inner third of the lid and fill brows slightly toward the nose. To open up close-set eyes, keep the inner corners bright and focus color on the outer half.
Glasses do the same job. A dark, heavy bridge visually pulls eyes together; a clear or thin bridge adds space. Lens width also matters — your pupils should sit near the horizontal center of each lens.
Spacing also changes how brows should sit. Brows that start directly above the inner corners keep wide-set eyes connected, while starting them a touch further out gives close-set eyes more breathing room. Small changes of a millimeter or two make a visible difference.
Eye distance calculator FAQ
Is it really free?
Yes. No sign-up, no watermark and no usage limits. The analysis runs in your browser.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Detection runs locally with Google's MediaPipe model, so your photo never leaves your device.
What photo works best?
A straight-on photo at eye level, from arm's length or further, in soft daylight. Pull hair off your face, remove glasses and keep a neutral expression.
Can I use this to measure my PD for glasses?
No. Pupil distance for prescription glasses must be measured in millimeters by an optician; this tool works in ratios.
Are wide-set eyes attractive?
Slightly wide-set eyes are often described as youthful and open. Neither spacing is better.
Why use ratios instead of millimeters?
Photos don't carry a reliable scale, but ratios between features stay the same at any distance.
