How the nose shape detector works
Detection uses Google's MediaPipe Face Landmarker, running on your device.
- 1
Upload a selfie
Use a clear, front-facing photo or your camera. Face the lens straight on in even light.
- 2
Landmarks are measured
Nose width and length are measured, and the bridge profile is estimated from 3D depth.

12 nose shapes
Every nose is normal — these types are for makeup and eyewear choices.
Straight (Greek)
A straight bridge with no visible bump or dip and a balanced width. Often called the Greek nose.
Roman (Aquiline)
A bridge with a gentle outward curve or slight bump, giving a strong, distinguished profile.
Hooked (Hawk)
A pronounced convex bridge with a tip that points slightly downward. Striking in profile.
Snub
A short, slightly upturned nose with a small, rounded tip and a soft bridge.
Celestial (Ski-slope)
A bridge with a gentle dip in the middle and an upturned tip — the classic ski-slope profile.
Button
A small, short nose with a rounded tip and narrow width that sits in proportion with soft features.
Nubian
A longer bridge with a wider base and fuller nostrils, common across African descent.
Bulbous
A tip that is rounder and fuller than the bridge, giving the nose a soft, rounded end.
Fleshy
A larger, full nose with soft tissue around the tip and nostrils. A strong central feature.
Narrow
A slim nose with a thin bridge and narrow base that sits close between the eyes.
Long
A nose that runs longer than average relative to the middle of the face.
Flat / Wide
A lower bridge with a wider base. It sits softly in profile and pairs with full cheeks.
Contour and glasses tips for every nose shape
Contouring a nose is about light, not changing it. Use a matte shade one to two steps deeper than your skin along the sides of the bridge, blend well, and add a small touch of highlight down the center. Keep contour lighter on camera than you think you need.
Glasses fit depends on your bridge more than your nose length. Lower or flatter bridges suit frames with adjustable nose pads or a low-bridge fit, so lenses don't rest on your cheeks. Higher bridges suit keyhole or saddle bridges that spread weight evenly.
The 12 types are labels for styling choices, not medical categories. Many noses combine traits, like a straight bridge with a fuller tip, so read the tips for your closest two types.
Nose shape detector FAQ
Is it really free?
Yes. No sign-up, no watermark and no usage limits. The analysis runs in your browser.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Detection runs locally with Google's MediaPipe model, so your photo never leaves your device.
What photo works best?
A straight-on photo at eye level, from arm's length or further, in soft daylight. Pull hair off your face, remove glasses and keep a neutral expression.
How can a front photo tell a Roman nose?
MediaPipe estimates depth for each landmark, so the bridge profile can be approximated. It's less reliable than a side photo, so treat profile types as a best guess.
Is a nose shape linked to ethnicity?
Some shapes are more common in certain populations, but every shape appears everywhere. The labels describe features, not ancestry.
Can lighting change the result?
Strong side light exaggerates bumps and dips. Use soft light facing you.
